Phyllis Allen
Between my wife and I, we have only lost one parent, my wife's mother Phyllis. I am uniquely under-qualified to comment on her life, having not known her personally, but I do know that my wife misses her every day.
Phyllis was born to Otto and Jeannie Allen July 5, 1933. She attended Lewis and Clark High school (see school picture from 1950), married and had three lovely girls, one of whom I married. She died young at only 57 on 4/4/1992 in Spokane Washington.

My mother, Phyllis, worked at Washington Water Power as a telephone operator before she was married to my father Harry "Bud" Barker. During their 13 year marriage she was a stay at home, volunteering at our schools and for Red Cross. After their divorce in 1970 and until her death she worked as a church secretary, assistant buyer for the Crescent department store in the China department, also worked there later in the make up department, she was a realtor, worked for recycled cards and finally did her dream job of starting her own catering business "Menus by Phyllis". She was an amazing woman and mother. Always striving to improve her life and seize the day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bob, for doing such a wonderful job on this geneology blog. I know that although you enjoy doing the research, it's also very time consuming and many times you feel that nobody's paying attention. But we are!!! I love you
