A few years ago I began researching our family history. I spent over two years on this project. It's taken a great deal of time and was incredibly complicated. Consider that each of us has two parents, who each have two parents, etc, etc, etc.... after 10 generations there are 1024 ancestors! The numbers have gotten so large that the significance of each individual life has been lost, being relegated to the throng of faceless names in a large inverted pyramid.

I am starting this blog for two reasons:
  • To communicate the research in a reasonably organized way to the rest of the family.
  • To attempt to pay due homage to each relative by focusing on one person per blog entry, along with the evidence for including them in our family tree.
Some rules I will observe:

  1. I do NOT intend to name any living person except as necessary to orient the reader to which line we are referring. For that reason I will use my own name as the basis for starting lines. I hope the reader doesn't mistake this approach for conceit.
  2. I have includes the lines of myself and wife. That proved to be more than enough of a project. Trying to include other lines of many of our family, such as in-laws and parents from first marriages, etc. was beyond the scope of this project simply because I didn't have the time to tackle it. Please don't feel slighted if this applies to your ancestors.
I hope this project brings some fun and understanding of where we all came from, and I look forward to comments and contributions from the rest of the family.
