Warren Bruce, father of Warren David Bruce, and my 4th great grandfather was born in Barnard, VT on August 10th, 1797. Barnard (originally Bernard) was chartered in 1761. It remains a very small community in central Vermont. He married Elizabeth Lamphere (also spelled Lanphiar) on July 28th, 1820 in Plainfield, New Hampshire. Elizabeth was born in 1799 in Barnard. their children were Jesse, Warren Jr, and Ezra.
Warren worked as a day laborer as reported in the 1870 US census. In 1840 and 1860 they lived in Roxbury, and thereafter lived in Middlesex, VT.
Warren died in Middlesex on July 25, 1873. Elizabeth outlived him and likely passed away between 1870 and 1880.
