Jesse Lamphear & Susanna Gray

Jesse Lamphear (also spelled Lanphere and Lanphire), my wife's 5th great grandfather and father of Elizabeth Lamphear, was born in Westerly, Colony of Rhode Island Jan 20, 1770.  Westerly is located on the far south western corner of RI bordering Long Island sound and Connecticut.  The town was founded in 1669 and was famous for its granite quarries.  The Lamphear family was well represented in Westerly having been there for multiple generations.  His birth appears on the vital statistics of the state.

Jesse married Susanna Gray from Lebanon, Grafton co., NH.  She was born December 6, 1774.  They were married in the town of her birth on April 14, 1796.  By 1810 they lived in Plainfield, Cheshire co, NH.  Jesse appears on the 1810 and 1820 censuses in that town and on a probate record (from Westerly) listing him living in Plainfield in 1811.

They had a child, Elizabeth.  I have not found any other children.  The records for Jesse and Susanna become nearly non-existant after 1830.  Several references to Jesse passing away in Middlesex, Vermont in 1824 or 1829 are out there, but I have seen no proof.  Their grave sites  are not known.
