Summary of Occupations through 7 generations

Now since the 7th generation is complete here is a summary of the occupations found among the relatives.  The occupations begin at our grandparents and end at our 4th great grandparents.  Most of these jobs were carried out by the men but a few (especially later generations) were done by the wives. Also remember that many relatives have not been found so this is obviously an incomplete list.

Farmers/Ranchers 26
Carpenters/Joiners/Sawyers 7
Sailors/ship builders 5
Machinists/Engineers/Mechanics 4
Plant workers 4
Business owners 4
Nail cutters/smiths 2
Car sales/inspection 2

Baggage handler at a railroad 1
Ran a summer camp 1
Truck driver 1

Here is how the family represented itself in the military (again starting with grandparents and going back to include 4th great grandparents):

WWII  -1
Civil War (all Union) -4
War of 1812 -1
Revolutionary (spy) -1

Also there were:

There will be others in the Revolutionary war and War of 1812 but we haven't made it back far enough in most lines yet.

On to generation 8...
